Before entering new year, wishes are appropriate. What is the best wish for mediators? Is it smart to wish a lot of disputes? Or is it better to wish a lot of disputes for others but not the mediator? It doesn’t sound good, does it? What’s about wishing successful dispute resolutions? Is it better for mediators?

A wish (at least in German language) is connected with win. It describes a desire expressing the hope of something, that is not available yet and cannot be done by oneself. The wish for others should help to realise or experience something.

Philosophically a wish is connected with a will. Psychologically is is a mean to focus thoughts. Thus it makes sense to wish something good, as thoughts concerning positive thinking are funds for good results. Positive thoughts make positive results more likely.

Very often, wishes are focussed on solutions. When thoughts will be fixed on a solution, it might happen that other solutions achieving the same or even a better benefit are getting out of sight. Thus a mediator’s wish should not poit out a solution, but the benefit of something and the satisfaction of needs.

The best what ever can happen are good feelings. The worst that can happen just are bad feelings. Now it makes sense to just wish a happy new year, where happyness is expressed by good feelings. Choose the feslings you like to have.

In that sense we wish a happy new year, bringing all the good feelings you like to have.
